AI in Healthcare

In 2023, our UAE-UK Collaboration in Cancer Care campaign highlighted the growing importance and role of AI in healthcare. With the UAE and the UK being leaders in the adoption and regulation of AI, we will launch a campaign focussing on AI in Healthcare in September 2024, identifying the emerging trends, technologies and opportunities for commercial collaboration, and fostering knowledge sharing and exchange of best practice between the two countries.

During Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2024 in May 2024, we hosted an AI in Healthcare Roundtable in partnership with Healthcare UK to discuss the priority themes for this campaign. The discussions were centred around:

  •  Respective strengths of the UK and the UAE in utilising AI in the healthcare sector

  • Optimising regulatory and data environments in both countries for maximizing UK-UAE collaboration  in AI-driven healthcare

  • Evolution of AI in the healthcare sector in the near term (5 years) and longer term (10-20 years)

  • Opportunities for UK-UAE commercial collaboration in AI in healthcare

Participants from the roundtable will be invited to participate in the campaign when it is launched later this year. The campaign will consist of virtual meetings approximately once a month, followed by a conference in Dubai during Arab Health in January 2025, and then a White Paper that will be submitted to both Governments in the Spring of 2025.
