We were delighted to support the BBG and the Department for International Trade (DIT) in bringing together a panel representing the ecosystem of education to explore how academia and industry must be more intrinsically linked to better prepare the next generation; in upskilling employees; and in preparing for jobs that aren't yet in existence.
Sponsored by University of Birmingham Dubai - who are great examples of creating partnerships in business for reciprocal learning - attendees heard from Clare Turnbull - Principal at Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai; Major Dr Rashid Al Mansoori - Acting Chairman Dubai Police Scientists Council; David Sadler - Provost, University of Birmingham Dubai; Hind Alattar - Chief Human Capital Officer, United Arab Bank and Ian Bani - Head of Vocational Qualifications at Pearson Middle East; the session was expertly moderated by Alanoud Alhashmi - Chief Executive Officer SDG Global
In summarising the panel discussion Alanoud asked the panel - "what key skills do you think people will need in the future?" The panel answered: “courage; adaptability; critical thinking; research skills; interpretation; communication; resilience; problem solving and confidence in decision making”.
