The UAE-UK Business Council was delighted to host a dinner in Dubai for Lord Karan Bilimoria, President of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), as well as a small number of senior level Emirati business leaders.
The Confederation of British Industry is the UK’s leading business organisation, representing the views of companies and trade associations to policy makers and Governments. At the dinner, Lord Bilimoria set out the CBI’s proposals for the economic transformation of the UK, with an emphasis on creating a more diverse, innovative and greener economy that is better equipped to deal with the global challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The United Kingdom’s future trading relationship with the world – particularly through meaningful free trade agreements - was also discussed in detail; this included the prospect of a UK-GCC Free Trade Agreement which would dramatically change the UK’s relationship with the region.
Hosted by our Co-Chairs HE Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State and Lord Udny-Lister, guests were also joined by HE Mansoor Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to the UK and Simon Penney, HM Consul General to Dubai and HM Trade Commissioner for the Middle East.
